Business Challenge

Scope Technology is an established global leader in the development of end-toend multi-industry telematics solutions for automotive connected services. Scope’s proven and patented end-to-end solution has been adopted by customers in over 50 countries. The open-architecture solution includes invehicle data collection hardware, software, mobile applications, backend systems and dashboards and related professional services.

Scope Technology outgrew their existing infrastructure at their current datacenter, and required a platform that could cater at scale for their Vehicle Telematic Solution platform. Scope partnered with Microsoft and BUI (Pty) Ltd – a leading cloud managed
services provider and Microsoft Gold Partner – to establish an optimal cloud migration and operations strategy for their Vehicle Telematic Solution platform.
Project Outcome

We establish a secure extension from Scope’s existing datacenter and all onpremise sites were created in Azure, products were either re-hosted, redesigned or re-architectured on the Azure platform.

High Availability
Ensure High Availability Customer SLA’s are met where possible.

Performance
Thorough Performance tests to be completed before migrating any production workloads to Azure. New Model Where possible, switch to a PaaS or SaaS model. Optimised Costs Cost optimization of all deployed services.
BUI engaged with Scope Technologies through our standard data center migration practice, which aligns with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.

As per the migration plan, resources were either re-hosted, re-designed or rearchitected on the Azure platform. Migration plan execution completed within 6 months with full support services from BUI during the migration period.
